It is with great excitement that we announce the beginning of a new Contemporary dance class taught by Juan Maria Seller Duran. Contemporary will be split into 2 different classes as follows:
10:00 am – 11:00 am for Beginner/Intermediate (Ballet Level 3 & below)
11:00 am – 12:00 pm for Advanced (Ballet Level 4 & up)
Mr. Duran’s dance resume is extensive and is only briefly summarized here. He studied at the “Conservatorio de Arte Dramatico y Danza de Sevilla” and was later selected to study in the prestigious Martha Graham School in New York. He created his own contemporary dance company in Spain. He was the official director and choreographer of the International Festival of Folklore in Spain from 2008 to 2011. He is a teacher and choreographer throughout Puerto Rico, and a Professor of Jazz at CANEDU in Sevilla and Slamanca, Spain. He describes his technique as “Graham-Cunningham – Release-Jazz-Contemporary-Flay low – Amalgama.”
